Introducing the Edera 2018 'Tesora' Collection

Introducing The Edera 2018 Bridal Collection

I'm so happy to announce the launch of my latest collection!

The 'Tesora' Collection was inspired by the architecture, history, and natural beauty of Italy. Each design in the collection is named after a place in the country—from the Fiorenza earrings, whose intricate golden lace motifs were inspired by Florence’s Ponte Vecchio and the city’s fleur de lis emblem, to the Venezia earrings, inspired by the gothic architecture of the Doge’s Palace in Venice, to the Toscana sash, overflowing with wildflowers inspired by the Tuscan countryside.

The collection takes its name from the Italian word tesora, a term of endearment that means “treasure.” I also chose the name because of its similarity to the word tessera which is a small piece of tile used in mosaic work. Many of the designs were inspired by the mosaics found in the cathedrals and Roman ruins throughout Italy. The Ravenna earrings and bracelet, which incorporate hundreds of tiny glass, were inspired by the Byzantine splendor of Ravenna’s famed mosaics. I wanted to translate the concept of mosaics into jewelry, by weaving and embroidering tiny seed beads into intricate patterns, juxtaposed with my signature handcrafted lace.

A floral motif also runs throughout the collection, with many of the designs embellished with delicate wired sprigs and beaded leaves. Silk threads used in the embroidery introduce small touches of color and texture, while freshwater pearls and vintage crystals add an old world opulence to the designs.

The collection was photographed by incredibly talented Vermont photographer Colette Kulig, who has a background in both wedding and fashion photography. The Charles Downing Lay Garden at the Marble House Project, an artist retreat and wedding venue in Dorset VT, provided the range of backdrops for the shoot, from lush Italianate gardens, to stone pergola, reflecting pond, and a marble-columned pavilion.

British gown designer Joanne Fleming created the stunning gowns: a beaded gown of French lace over silk satin, adorned with a low cowl back and floating silk tulle streamers, and a heavily beaded lace tulle bridal coat paired with a simple bias cut slip dress. The styling for the shoot drew on a range of inspiration, from ancient Rome to the Middle Ages and Renaissance.

Sarah Crowley of Finishing Touch designed the hairstyles, creating a modern-day Juliet with loose updos and romantic flowing locks. Jennifer Perellie, the makeup artist, created several looks that combined strong brows with a soft makeup palette, drawing from the colors of the collection.
